Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 2 September 2026
1. Who you are contracting with
Hold the Light (“the Service”) is operated by Diogo Horta (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you enter into an agreement with Diogo Horta and accept these terms.
2. Acceptance
Continued use of the Service means you accept these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of a workshop or company, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation. If you use it as an individual, you confirm you are of legal age.
3. What the Service does
Hold the Light is a diagnostic assistant for professional mechanics. It organises technical information and suggests possible next diagnostic steps. It does not perform diagnostics, does not decide for you, and does not replace the judgement of a qualified technician. All suggestions, probabilities and estimates are informational only. You remain fully responsible for any inspection, test, repair or advice you deliver to your customers.
4. AI-assisted content and accuracy
Parts of the Service use automated content generation. Outputs may be incomplete or inaccurate and must be verified against official manufacturer documentation and your own measurements before acting. Outputs are not professional, safety or legal advice. You are responsible for the inputs you submit, for having the right to submit them, and for how you use the outputs.
5. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the Service unlawfully or for fraud, spam or abuse;
- infringe intellectual property or upload content you have no rights to;
- interfere with security — no malware, probing, scraping, reverse engineering or circumvention of technical limits;
- resell, redistribute or share access outside your subscription plan;
- share account credentials; you are responsible for activity under your account.
We may remove or restrict content, filter outputs and suspend accounts where use breaches these rules. Rights-holders may contact us to request a takedown; repeated infringement leads to termination.
6. Licence and intellectual property
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service within your selected plan. We retain all ownership of the Service, its software, documentation and branding. You keep ownership of content you submit and grant us a limited licence to host and process it solely to provide the Service.
7. Service level
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation and, to the fullest extent permitted by law, disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
8. Payments, subscriptions and taxes
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns.
Payment, billing, renewal, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle's Buyer Terms. Subscriptions renew automatically for the billing period selected at checkout until cancelled. See our Refund Policy.
9. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated policy violations. You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period. After termination you may request an export of your investigation history within 30 days, after which data may be deleted.
10. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. We exclude liability for indirect, consequential or special damages, including loss of profits, data or goodwill. Nothing excludes liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence.
You indemnify us against claims arising from your content, unlawful use of the Service, or breach of these terms.
11. General
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, and the courts of Portugal have jurisdiction. You may not assign this agreement without our consent; we may assign it in a merger or acquisition. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control. We may update these terms and will post the revised version on this page.
